Porthole Magazine & Windstar Cruises Team Up to Offer a “Caribbean Celebration” Cruise onboard Wind Surf in February 2019

Caribbean Celebration Cruise Heralds Local Culture & Supports the Caribbean Community

Seattle, WA, October 30, 2018 – Windstar Cruises is partnering with Porthole Cruise Magazine, the definitive authority on all things cruise, to reveal the indulgent Caribbean in a way no other cruise line can. Windstar President John Delaney and Porthole Founder and Publisher Bill Panoff are teaming up to provide guests onboard the Wind Surf’s February 23, 2019 sailing with an exclusive opportunity to celebrate the indelible culture, vibrancy, and joy of the Caribbean islands. The trade winds of resiliency after last year’s storms have energized these havens of natural beauty to rebound with welcoming arms.

The Caribbean’s paradisal appeal coupled with the amazing rejuvenation is the underlying theme for the week-long celebration. Delaney and Panoff share a mutual enthusiasm for the Caribbean and anxiously render their support by personally hosting this one of a kind cruise event. By collaborating with cruise colleagues in St. Maarten, St. Bart’s, the B.V.I’s and elsewhere, the duo will escort personalized shore excursions and host unexpected activities for cruise guests.

A key highlight of the cruise will be the opportunity to sail with renowned artist Marc Lipp, whose vibrant pop art echoes the colors and eclectic character of the Caribbean. Guests will have a chance to engage with and learn from the artist along with a bonus art show and auction with proceeds going back to the community.

Other surprises include a celebration at legendary Foxy’s Bar, trunk shows with Caribbean batiks, spices and rum, promising animated enjoyment for all. “Our goal is to humbly give back to the islands that have provided such joy to so many over the years, but in a non-traditional way,” said Windstar President John Delaney.

Panoff notes, “The endemic allure of the Caribbean has been a driving force in making Porthole Cruise Magazine the predominant publication of the cruise community. I look forward to sharing my appreciation and passion of the region with our readers and Windstar guests on this uniquely designed cruise.”

The focal ports on the Caribbean Celebration Cruise include smaller islands and harbors such as Antigua, Norman Island, St. Barthélemy, Tortola, and Jost Van Dyke, B.V.I. The Wind Surf will be anchored at each island, exemplifying the yacht-infused style of cruising that Windstar excels in. Guests will enjoy two overnights and two late nights in port, as well as complimentary water sports and the line’s Signature Deck Barbecue, popular Windstar cruise highlights. The cruise takes place aboard the award-winning line’s flagship, Wind Surf, the world’s largest sailing ship that is sporting new sails and will welcome 310 guests, ready for exploration, camaraderie, and adventure.

The Windstar and Porthole Cruise Magazine’s Caribbean Celebration Cruise sets sail Saturday, February 23 and concludes Saturday, March 2, with rates starting at $2,999 per person, based on double occupancy. A Sit Down With Stephen Chrisanthus: Captain Cruise

This month I got a chance to sit down with friend and Delray Beach resident Bill Panoff, an authority in the world of cruises and the publisher or Porthole Cruise Magazine, to discuss cruising and why he chooses Delray as his home port.

What inspired you to produce an international cruise magazine?

Thirty years ago the cruise industry was in it’s infancy… Fewer cruise lines and ships were in the marketplace… The industry was on a growth path and at that time there was no media or magazine to reach the cruise consumer. Surrounding myself with editors, publishers and graphic artists, Porthole Cruise Magazine was born. Today Porthole Cruise Magazine is the leading publication for cruise consumers, with subscribers in 40 countries.

You also have a show on cruises, what’s it about and where can you watch it?

Yes, I host a cruise channel on YouTube called Cruise Control with Bill Panoff. Every Tuesday our viewers tune in to the show to learn what’s new in cruising, exciting ports to visit, tips for first time cruisers , and much more. Encourage you all to tune in to cruise control.

What are some of your favorite cruise destinations?  How does South Florida rate?

Caribbean, Europe, and Alaska are my favorite regions to cruise. South Florida is the gateway to the cruise industry with ports in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Tampa, Port Canaveral to name a few.

You have obviously been around the world, what made you choose Delray Beach as your home port?

Delray for me is the best of both worlds; exciting and vibrant downtown nightlife, and quiet beachfront community with the best beaches in Florida.

What are some of your favorite places or things to do in Delray?

Love the go to the Avenue early in the evening when it’s not too busy and enjoy a drink and or dinner at Cut 432, and Tramonti’s.

What would you want your readers to know about Delray Beach as a destination?

Delray is a perfect pre and post stop in connection with South Florida cruise departures. For cruisers continuing on from Miami or Ft Lauderdale to Orlando I highly suggest a stop in Delray, one hour from Miami and 35 minutes from Fort Lauderdale.

Any upcoming changes or something new in the world of cruising?

As the cruise industry grows the variety of cruise itineraries is becoming more diverse. River cruises and Expedition cruises are growing a rapid pace.

Any words from the cruise master about cruising for those who have never taken one?

There is no more affordable vacation option in the world. Where else can you go and see the scenery change daily, food and entertainment included, unpack once… If you never cruised before check out Porthole Cruise Magazine or go to porthole.com. I promise you will be hooked.

Finally, any Cruise Control tips for those about to set sail?

Yes, always arrive in the city of embarkation a day or two before the cruise begins so you can explore. This way you actually get an additional port of call added to your cruise vacation.

Meet Bill Panoff of The PPI Group in Delray Beach

The following appeared on the VoyageMIA website

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Panoff.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bill. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Over 30 years ago, I was hooked with the bug of cruising. With the advent of the TV show the Love boat I was mesmerized with the thought of working on board a cruise ship. In my early teens I was practicing magician, doing my parties and events in my hometown of Philadelphia. I also had a great desire to perform my magic aboard Cruise ships.

I was transported from a small town in Pennsylvania to life living on ships. This is where I gained my experience and learned missed opportunities that surrounded the cruise industry. From my knowledge gained on board I launched the PPI in the late 1980

The PPI Group today is the largest media company in the cruise space providing custom publishing, videography, digital, and preferred shopping programs to the CRUISE INDUSTRY. PPI is also the publisher of the leading cruise magazine Porthole

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting your own business always has struggles along the way. Believe in your mission, believe in yourself, and do not take no for an answer. If someone told her no, keep trying to get a yes from the person or another person in the same organization.

I started out of my second bedroom, and over 30 years later we have 50 employees in or Fort Lauderdale office.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The PPI Group story. Tell us more about the business.
PPI Group is a multimedia company that provides a variety of services that touch the cruise guest. Firstly we are a publishing company, the publishers over 40 titles annually, for hotels, Cruise Line’s, and businesses looking to create their own custom magazine. We are vertically integrated in that we produce all publications and house from A-to-Z. Our digital Division provide services to travel industry in general and offers an opportunity to reach those travelers in market and serve up targeted messages to them prior to the vacation. This is the fastest growing division of our company.

The magazine that were most well-known for is our cruise consumer magazine porthole. Porthole has been in the marketplace for well over 20 years and is considered the Bible for Cruise consumers thirsty for information about destinations, shopping, what crew ship to select, and what destination to go to. Porthole is available on newsstands and by subscription in print and digital form

Video is a large part of our organization and we produce custom videos in the house for the travel industry, with compelling graphics and engaging stories. These videos include state of the art production, compelling drone footage, all targeting the traveler. To learn more about what companies, go to PPI Group.com and Porthole.com

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry is constantly evolving, the cruise lines are very in tune in to the needs of their consumer, the ships are offering up more variety , engaging entertainment, technology advances that will embrace the millennial‘s, destinations that attract a broad market of consumers,

There is no more affordable vacation option in the market then accrues. Where else can you go where the food is included, entertainment is included, and the scenery changes several times during the crew.

Porthole Cruise Magazine Lends a Hand for World Oceans Day

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – June 6, 2018 –

In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8th, and in an effort to spread awareness about ocean conservation, 4Ocean is hosting a worldwide cleanup event. Residents of Palm Beach County and local volunteers will join in for an afternoon of shoreside cleanup hosted by 4Ocean at Boca Raton Spanish River Park Beach.

Porthole Cruise Magazine shares in 4Ocean’s mission for creating a sustainable future for the world’s oceans through their coordinated cleanup events on beaches and at sea around the world. Members of Porthole’s team will be on hand to help with the cleanup efforts and event promotion.

Porthole Cruise Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Bill Panoff, echoed the need for cleaner oceans and a coordinated effort.

“Being in the cruise and travel industry for over 30 years has brought me great appreciation for the ocean and the organizations dedicated to keeping it clean,” he said. “It’s important to get involved now, and influence the future.”

Estimates place the number of pieces of plastic in the ocean at more than 5 trillion and rising with 16 billion tons being added through new pollution every year. The current rate of ocean pollution is unsustainable and threatens a wide variety of sea life, including South Florida’s own sea turtle population. Sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, their main source of food. Their already dwindling population has sea turtles classified as an endangered species.

4Oceans’ efforts since their founding two years ago has removed more than 700,000 pounds of trash and debris from the world’s oceans.
