LUXURY CRUISE SHIP
Port and Shopping Lecturers
Shopping Presenter Job
Description
Thank
you for your interest in becoming a port lecturer
aboard some of today’s most popular cruise
ships! While sailing the high seas and exploring
all walks of the world, the following is a list of
duties that a Shopping Presenter will perform on
each voyage:
After
boarding your ship the first day, you are required
to attend a shipboard orientation class. You will
be available during the Introduction Show given by
the ship’s Cruise Director to speak about the
Shopping Program and to promote your first live
presentation.
You
will arrange all promotional flyers, brochures,
and shopping display merchandise from the stores
at least one hour before cruise guests enter the
lounge where your presentation is given
You
will perform Shopping Presentations for each port
of call . Talks will vary in duration depending on
the port and how many stores are on the
recommended shopping program . You will answer
questions after the talk and display store
merchandise to guests.
You
will socialize and mingle at every opportunity,
including the Captain’s Cocktail party, shows,
buffets, etc., and will, at all times, maintain a
professional and friendly demeanor on and off the
ship when dealing with guests and merchants. If
permission is granted by ships Hotel Manager you
will host a table on formal nights. You will visit
the stores in each port of call all day long and
help close sales to increase revenue.
You
will perform desk hours as designated in the
evening before each port and at the last night of
the cruise
On
port days, you will perform gangway duties
according to the needs of that specific port
before tours are dispatched. You will distribute
shopping maps and brochures, answer questions, and
motivate guests to shop. After all tours are
dispatched, you will proceed to the gangway and
remain for no less than one hour at the gangway
passing out collateral, answering questions, and
motivating guests as they disembark. You should
have a table set up near the gangway with flyers
available from the various stores as cruise
passengers go ashore in port.
You
will visit every store repeatedly at every port of
call, with no exceptions, for at least 15 minutes
each or longer (depending on time in port)
The
Buyer’s Guarantee video must be shown after
leaving the last port of call or at least two days
prior to arriving in the home port.
You
will assure that all talks are videotaped and
replayed in the cabins throughout the cruise.
Videotapes will be included in the end-of-voyage
package and sent to the office each voyage.
You
will wear uniforms as directed by the PPI Group,
and will, at all times when in public areas, be
well-dressed and properly groomed.
PPI
representatives will acknowledge receipt and
transmit completed revenue reports and voyage
reports for each voyage.
You
will complete all requested paperwork per
checklist and send end-of-voyage packages to the
office at the conclusion of each voyage. Your
revenue and voyage report must be sent
electronically via email at the end of each
voyage.
