Self-Motivated, Dedicated & Independent
- 6-month contracts with 4-6 weeks off in between contracts
- 40+ hours per week (including days and evening hours)
- No days/weekends off (everyday is a work day on a cruise ship)
Outgoing, Credible & Approachable
- Must be sincere, outgoing, and approachable to cruise ship guests, shore side merchants, and shipboard staff
- Credibility is a key quality that is necessary in this sales position

Confident & Well Spoken
- Fluent spoken and written English is a must (other language abilities also a plus)
- Public speaking skills with an entertaining, informative and persuasive approach required
- Exposure of the Port & Shopping Presenter is key to the success of the program; applicants must possess self-confidence, professionalism, and maturity
- Appearance must be polished and professional at all times
Creative & Sales-Oriented
- Creativity is a must when developing new promotional ideas and ways to increase overall revenue
- A persuasive sales approach is important to achieve targets and goals
Organized
- Excellent organizational skills are required
- Must be able to balance all areas of work effectively in order to accomplish multiple daily tasks
Living Conditions
- Port & Shopping Presenters live in single crew cabin accommodations
- Cabins are generally compact, but comfortable
- Room and board (including meals) is provided free of charge for single Port & Shopping Presenters
- On most cruise lines, the Port & Shopping Presenters are allowed the same privileges as other Concession Managers/Staff Members onboard
Compensation
- Port & Shopping Presenters are paid a weekly base salary plus generous commissions based on achieved sales targets
Contracts
- Port & Shopping Presenters are considered independent contractors for the duration of each contract onboard ship
- Ship assignments are 6 months in length, with 4-6 weeks off in between contracts
Training
- A comprehensive training class is mandatory prior to ship assignments
- Office training takes place in our Fort Lauderdale office, and last for 5 full days
- Training includes ship protocol, policy and procedure, sales techniques, product information, paperwork and administration, etc.
- Following office training and prior to beginning a ship assignment, the Port & Shopping
- Presenter will sail onboard a ship for 1-2 cruises to shadow the previous Presenter, or to train with one of PPI’s Corporate Field Trainers
- PPI provides hotel accommodations (room and tax only) and meals during office training
- The Port & Shopping Presenter is responsible for airfare/transportation to training (Fort Lauderdale)
Requirements Prior to Attending Training
- Complete cruise line physical (specific cruise lines forms provided
by PPI)
- Wardrobe of basic business attire and formal wear
- $1,000 cash available and/or a valid credit card (in the event money is needed to cover incidental expenses during the first few weeks of employment)
- Valid passport (Including C1/D Seaman's Visa for Non-US and non-Canadian citizens)
- Previous cruise line employees or concessionaires must obtain written consent from your company before leaving the previous position
- Laptop computer capable of playing PowerPoint presentations
- Video camera and a tripod (must be mini DV, DVD or mini DVD)
